Beautiful afternoon in Shreveport

October 31, 2009

randynola1Hello, and sorry for the rapid-fire bursts of the latest posts. We have been tired and worn lately, and Jon had been suffering from steady pains, and lately, a cold or the flu. But last night brought great improvement in Jon’s health, and today he is happy, more energetic than we’ve seen in his recent zombie days, and ready to roll on. So we rest today, and film some, and edit and write, and ensure that Jon is stable before we move. Our departure is now set for 1100 am tomorrow morning, and we will use the Force if necessary to convey us onward. The people of Shreveport are very friendly and helpful, and I will miss them, but we have limited time remaining to complete our run. 400 miles to New Orleans in 6 days. Nola and the bike will take us there. Shreveport  has emerged from the maelstrom with it’s spirit and sense of  humor intact, just as New Orleans has, and this inspires us on to do what we can in the limited time remaining. We will be back, but that is another story…

Rest day

October 30, 2009

A day of rest in Shreveport. Jon now also has a cold or the flu. As the skies clear, we pass the day watching Jon sleep while Ian carries on with the film editing routines. We wait…..

Change of course, of course…

October 30, 2009

french-qrtr-oct-11-0121We are well used to this at To Bring Us Home. Changing course in mid stride, with only seconds of notice. Now they tell us Jon does not need surgery, which is great news, but the Tampa doctors disagree, which worries us. Jon’s pain has stabilized, and we will see a specialist Friday, but his pain has continued for too long. So, we shall see what they all come up with. Friday is a day on the computers, as we await the destructive storms to leave Shreveport. Cool, clear, dry weather will allow us to begin our run to New Orleans on Saturday. 400 miles in 7 days now. Soon!
